Software Testing - A complete guide for beginners

What is Testing?

Software testing is an activity that checks whether actual results match expected results and ensures that the software system is free of defects.

Testers can detect gaps, mistakes, requirements, and missing parts in a project or system through testing. Testing can be carried either manually or with the assistance of automated technologies available on the market.

When we test software, we always need a set of test inputs that produce test output. An acceptability check is performed on the outputs. If the output is correct, the test case passed; if it is incorrect, the test case failed. We also need to debug.

It's tough, but crucial, to choose a decent set of input and develop a good acceptability check.

Importance of Testing:

It is possible that if the problem or defect is not adequately eliminated from the system, the system will fail. That is why testing is critical.

Who conducts testing?

Testing professionals include:

1) software testers

2) Project manager

3) Project developer

4) Team leader

5) The final users

What happens when we test ?

Acceptability testing is performed on the resulting output. If the output is correct, we can conclude that the software being tested is correct, and we go to the next test case.

If the output is incorrect or the acceptability check fails, we will discover a bug in the software under test. If the bug isn't in the software, we'll identify it in the acceptance test. If the bug isn't present in the test, we'll look for it in the specification. If the fault isn't in the specification, it could be in the OS, compiler, libraries, or hardware.
