Share Your Script campaign 2.0 - crowdsource By Google

 

What is share your script campaign:

We're intrigued about text recognition, also known as optical character recognition (OCR), which is the process of extracting and recognizing text data from an image. This initiative will have a direct impact on enhancing OCR in your local language for handwritten text.

You can contribute by uploading photographs of handwritten text in your local language to the Crowdsource app's Image Capture task during the campaign.

Who can Participate?

1) Android users (Since this task is available only on the crowdsource app on the Play store). 

2) Anyone who speaks any of the following languages -

• African French, Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Bulgarian, Dutch, English, Farsi, German, Greek, Gujrati, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Pashto, Portuguese (LatAm), Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Sinhalese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Urdu, Vietnamese.

3) Anyone who is at least 18 years of age.

How to Participate ?

• Contribute to the Image Capture task on the crowdsource app across a period of two months (May 13, 2022 to July 31, 2022); Participate in campaign meet-ups and other activities.
• Please make sure to mention my name, "Dikshita Kambri" in the other field of the last question in the form if you found out about this campaign by reading my blog.
• Keep contributing images of handwritten text - You can upload pictures of handwritten text that you already have, or can write new content by following the broad guidelines. The more diverse style that you can get, the better it is for OCR models to learn!
• Label your images - When you upload images on Image Capture, do label them properly- 
  - Passage (minimum 3-6 sentences).
  - List (e.g. grocery list, to-do list).
  - Notes (e.g. Educational notes).
• Prioritize quality and privacy - As always, the quality of your contributions is very important. Please contribute images that are not blurred and have a significant amount of meaningful text. Make sure that no sensitive or personally identifiable is captured in the images.
